How on earth are these projects being taken seriously in some spots in the media? Going 200km/h to get their speed benefits?! Spending money that doesn’t exist? Imagine if it was a new rail line, how different the coverage would be.

Yes, the 2023 numbers were well below where they should have been to start with. I think the numbers ($ and programmes ) are big to get offshore finance interested in putting together a team to look at ppp options but local bidding contractors are also doing submissions on 10 year maintenance contracts at the moment so any additional work for new construction is going to be pitched a lot higher as there won’t be the capacity sitting around spare. Costs to get a submission together is like $20-30 million for a $1billion project so people are looking to make sure they understand the costs and not submit tenders based on half pie numbers. Transmission gully , just like convention centre project are making local submitters cover their asses more than previously (in my opinion) and that simply means more costs. I hear the Ozzies approach is to make sure they have 7 lawyers for every engineer and get it out of the client on the back end through variations.
